another week...

another week has gone in a blur, I can't believe it's a week since I last posted... but since I was here last I have gained a new brother-in-law and have been a guest at the most fantastic wedding of my sister and her lovely husband up at my parents farm in the North East... So taking all that into account I do have a valid excuse for being such a blog-slacker!! I do want to start and post more regularly like I was doing a couple of months ago, but I just don't seem to have much to tell you or the time to do it... I did get a spare hour last night to firm up plans for the garden gate picture I showed you last week. Not 100% happy with how it's turned out so this will be the first draft. more to follow...

Last week I did venture up to the fair city of Leeds to drop of some work for an exhibition at The Bowery in Headingley, which was good. All a little last minute, but I pulled it all together in the end and delivered a big batch of work. Now I really don't have a lot left at all now so it's time for getting back to basics and getting some new ideas down on paper. I drew a picture for my sister and her husband called 'To Love, Honour and Cherish' and hopefully I'll get some pics of that later in the week to show you.

For the rest of this week, I have my 'Italian ' sister coming to stay with my nephew and I'm off for a few days of solitude in my caravan, which I can't wait for. I'll be taking me, the dog, my sketch book and pens for sure and will hopefully have some peace and quiet to just sketch... so next week, who knows, there may be something new to show you

ready again...

hello there, just wanted to let you know i'm still here. I've been having a bit of time to 'think', (a year ago I would have called it 'another creative lull' but I'm putting a positive spin on that and I've just been having some space). This time I haven't put myself under one bit of pressure and haven't gone into a stressed-out 'tizz' but I have been enjoying 'not making new work' and enjoying myself. It's my new strategy for managing myself and I'm pleased to say it's a lot easier to just go with the flow. I have come to recognise that creativity goes in cycles, the mad frenzy of March to June came to an end, and all of my work is out at new galleries and stockists and I'm revving myself up for the next part of the master plan!!!

Anyway, enough waffling. I've been up in the studio this evening for an hour after work and I'm dooddling some new ideas down. I have lots and lots of new ideas, new subject matter and maybe even a small adventure into ceramics and surface design... yes it's all been quiet on the blog front, but there has been plenty going on behind the scenes (ie in my head!!)....

Falling - Limited Edition of ONE ONLY

happy Thursday everyone, and this week it feels really strange, I just don't know what day it is... I'm usually in the studio on a Thursday but this week, I've had a bit of a swap around and I'm not... I'm at my lovely day job serving the population of Derbyshire with their medication!!

never mind though, the to-do list is getting longer every day, so I'll have plenty to keep me busy tomorrow I can assure you. The pictures above are my latest addition to my Folksy shop, a lovely print of 'falling' printed onto a gorgeous stoney-grey pastel paper, A4 in size, all the details can be found here on Folksy...

Featuring... my new dress

Now I have to confess, I haven't been organised enough to sort out a 'featuring' spot for this week, (note to self, must make sure I do that for next week!!), so instead of missing it altogether I thought I'd show you my new dress which I bought for my sisters wedding in two weeks time. I have purple shoes and no other accessories yet, maybe I will need a jacket/wrap as even though it's summer, anything can happen weather-wise in the North East!!

I Carry Your Heart - ONE OFF print

Boo... back to work for me today after twelve days off in the sun in Dorset and at home in the garden. Oh well, I suppose I should think myself lucky that I have a job to go to, but I must confess to some very naughty thought I had today about just giving it all up and spending my time being creative.... and then I woke up....

So back to reality, here is another new print, and it comes as ONE ONLY, and you can buy it here.... I'm feeling in need of a bit of shameless self-promotion for all the things in my Folksy shop at the moment, as I really need some sales to be able to finance the next part of what I want to do this year. The coffers are somewhat empty after forking out what seems like 'loadsamoney' for various things such as framing, tea towels and Trade Fairs.... By the way don't forget I'm having a giveaway too for a selection of my cards... you can find the details here...

Never Be Lonely - ONE OFF print

This feels very strange for a Monday, to be at home, and working on my art. Normally Monday is a 'WORK' day so it is spent in a dispensary from 9-6.30, not really seeing much of the outside world. Today however, it's all change, as I'm working Thursday this week, so I got an extra day off, and I have been busily beavering away getting lots of jobs done, including listing new work in my Folksy shop. I have done a very small print run of three prints onto some lovely ArtMedia Paper, which is a textured pastel paper. I wondered how the ink would take to such a textured paper, but it has worked really well, the image is nice and crisp, and you could say I'm rather pleased with the results.... You can find this ONE OFF print in my shop here.........

It has been a strange day, I laid in bed until a LOT later than I had intended, but once I finally got the show on the road it has turned out be quite productive. I had a visitor in the garden earlier, a racing pigeon who seemed to have lost his way. He was hanging around all day, even after being chased twice by the dog. In the end we have given him some corn and water and he's having a little rest, recharging his batteries, and I bet he'll be on his way soon...

100th post... blog competition... and giveaway

Well hello there... I'm back from a lovely relaxing weeks holiday in Dorset with my lovely man, dog and parents... and we have had such a great time I thought I'd share some of my holiday snaps with you. This was the first time I had ever been to Dorset, and we were amazed at how gorgeous it is. We did lots of walking and exploring and luckily we had the best weather ever (all apart from the first night when we thought the caravan was going to end up on it's side in the next field as the wind and rain was so awful!!). The rest of the week was perfect, sunny and warm, you really can't beat the UK when the weather is good.... So here I am, all rested and relaxed and raring to get started on some new work and the next stage of my business development for the second half of 2011...

But before we get onto that, as a celebration of 100 blog posts on the 'new blog' I have decided to mark the occasion with a little giveaway... all you have to do it tell me where and why you love to spend your holidays, just leave me a comment on this blog and you will be entered into a draw for a selection of my cards.... closing date 14th July... winner will be notified and a little surprise package will be winging its way to you very soon....
